Actinics are different to moonlights (which are a specific light, usually LED). How many watts are your actinics. It sounds like your fish are getting no 'sleep'
Originally posted by snorvich I have true moonlights. I keep them on for 4 hours after lights out, then totally dark.
Maybe I didn't word that right. I have moonlights that are turned on by the Aquacontroller after the actinics go out. I was asking if anyone ever left there actinics on 24/7. But it does not sound like it.
As you probably know some fish get very wary & nervous towards dusk as this is a high predation time. Yet they may want to be out to take advantage of this themselves or maybe it's not safe to go to bed yet. If lighting conditions that mimic this time of day go on for an extended length time, this is going to be hard on your fish.
Maybe the lights & combined ambient room light is too bright for too long? Just a thought
I provide total darkness for the corals rather than the fish. The fish don't seem to care. I too have the Fishbowl Innovations Moon Computer and I like their products. However I run mine on manual timer rather than moon phase timer.
