lights ?s for a 40g

Alright, I am supposed to get what my wife called a 40 long this weekend from a neighbor. They kept fresh water in for a year and decided that they were not fish people. I have thought about tearing down my 90 and downgrading to this 40L. I have T5s over my 90 and like them.

If I want to run T5s over the 40L, and use my IC ballast, how many can I put over that size tank, and what color?

I think the 40L is 36x18x13 tall. It has the same width as your current 90g (assuming 48x18x24t) so you can fit the same amount of bulbs you have now. You will just have to get the shorter 36" bulbs (or have you current setup hang over six inches on either end ). Just keep in mind you are losing 11 inches of depth so you don't need as much punch to light the new tank, and you will have to worry more about heat.
