Whatever fits the budget i guess .. chinese boxes @ 100$ range.. ocean revive @200$ .. kessils and radions @ 400$ and above for lighting a 2 foot square.. but in general, i hear that t5s are good for coral coloration.. brstv has some really nice videos on this topic..

Not necessarily..

You need a chiller when you can't maintain suitable water temperatures..
Many tanks can run T5's without chillers.. They do produce heat though..
 
I am running MH/T5 and do not use a chiller. Temp range from 78-82, Have to keep the house AC at 74.

Check some of the threads on lighting in the lighting forum.

What kind of reef. Many types of lights and what is necessary varies on the type of reef.
