I have spent the past 6 hours unpacking part 2...and staring at my tank!!
I can't believe the stuff Richard sent:
Sponges (I hope they survive - I was really careful to open them underwater, and not let any air into the bag..)
Corals of all kinds, the rocks were LOADED!
An beautiful pink-tipped anemone...WOW! didn't expect that one!
And this guy (who is he??):

What the he... is he doing with my grape racime algae in his paw??

And, can someone ID this please;

And finally, what is this alga?? never saw it before - I know the "shaving brushes" he sent - they are awesome!! I was going to get me some of those, But this one is unfamiliar:

Anyway...I will definitely tell anyone who is looking for live rock - there is only ONE PLACE to get it - TBS!! But please, help me out with the IDs so I can keep these things alive and healthy in my tank! Thanks !!

The second pic looks like a unhealthy anenome from the best I can tell from pic.Also could you PM me his website that is nice looking stuff.Good luck and thanks scott

I think it's a flower anemone - and it doesn't look like this all the time. When I fed it some frozen shrimp this morning, it blossomed, and swelled up to "eat". The Tentacles around the edges are always moving, and every time I look at it, it is different. Please let me know if you have had any experience with these things?

Definately a rock flower anemone, I got a brown one from richard last weekend.

Your first pic looks like a decorator crab.

-- are you sure it's *JUST* an alge ?
kinda looks like and on-end shot of a clam or mussle in a way...
might be some growing on the edges of one...

I can't wait to see your full tank shot...unfortunately, these items are in my QT right now, so a "full tank" shot wouldn't be very pretty at this point. I promise to send one as soon as ammonia levels are OK and I put them in with the rest of "Part 1" !

Yep, it is definitely a macroalgae. Richard confirmed it is what they call a "Fan"...I guess it's pretty common in the gulf. But you're right..it does look kinda like a clam on the side view!!

Thanks for the ID... I was pretty sure that's what he was. He actually gave up the grape raceme (sp?) and picked up another piece of algae that was more "suited" to his liking. We spent an hour tonight, looking for a crab holing aloft a piece of grape raceme, only to find him right in our nose, holding a piece of red stuff !!! HaHa....and they say these guys are low on the genetic profile (I DON'T THINK SO !!!)

EGADS!! I just found a big wormy thing in the back of one of the rocks... anyone know what it might be? It looks like a tentacle, with bristles on each side, but kinda brownish (not red, like a " bristle worm" that you see in the books... I am freaked out! do I try to pick it out? leave it? Have a glass of wine and chill???

The rock/flower anemones are easy to care for. I feed mine frozen mixture every couple of days. They'll kind of collapse as they eat and the reopen. I just use a turkey baster, thaw the frozen food in a cup of tank water and then squirt it on the anemones.

OK, I am really new, and never had an anemone. So, how much do you thaw? A tsp? I get shrimp in the little cube packs for my blue-green chromis in the main tank, and cut one of the cubes in half to feed them. I don't always use it all, only enough to feed them for about 5 min. Would it be to much, if I gave the rest of the cube to the anemone? The cubes are about 1" square.

I feed mine pieces of shrimp from the grocery store...Thens sometimes freezedried krill.

It's probably still a bristle worm, they come in many shapes and sizes.

Just watch the decorator crab, sometimes they can get a little carried away with what they pluck and try to attach to themselves.

HaHa...you can say that again. He's hanging off a piece of macro right now (Making a "tree house"?). But in the process, I think he tried deconstructing some stony corals at the base. They were fine yesterday, but this morning they look like someone (thing?) was trying to excavate them!

I've heard stories that they will take things you don't necesarily want them to. I'm not sure how often that could happen tho.

That should be plenty...maybe even feed just a little bit less. The food will stick to the tentacles and it will close up and feed. Some of the food might float off of it before it closes up so you don't want to much that will just go to waste in the water.
