Lime!

I was walking thru my local Walmart tonight and found a new canning supplies section set up near the dishes, pots and pans section. The good news is they had a dozen jars of Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime. $2.64 a pound jar. Just incase anybody needs some extra Kalwasser. If one store has it, they probably all do now. It's summer canning season. The lime adds calcium to the pickles to make them crunchy. Or makes your corals grow.

Your choice.

Dang its high up there! :eek2:
in Tn. its $0.99 a pound. probably due to the fact we can more in the south.
my grandmother canned and my mother still does every year. Jalapeno relish is one of my favorites she cans, its gooood on everthang!!! :D :p

You're absolutely correct Reefnetworth, canning and preserving fresh foods is becoming a lost art in our urban areas. My mother and grand parrents also canned most of what they needed for the year from their gardens. It's a lot of hot work, but you not only saves money, you get a better tasting canned veggies, fruit and jams supply. seasoned to your particular taste.

What brand do you buy, Reefnetworth?

Yup, FCB, 2 part has a pretty good deal too on larger quantities. sounds like it works out to about the same price per pound with shipping if you need a lot of it. I just figured for those with smaller tank needs, a pound jar available locally is just the ticket. lots of Nano's around here.

I've had much better luck in my tank with the 2 part solution. It seems to last longer and the corals respond much quicker. My candy canes and Hydnophora were proof of that, they doubled in size in less than 3 months.
