limp/saggy RBTA

so i recently just topped my water off with RODI and a few hours later i come home to see my RBTA is limp. looks almost dead! can someone please chime in should i remove it from my tank?? i've had it for about 2 weeks. i'm currently using Aquaillumination LED's super sol blue's.

paremeters as of 2/3/15

ph: 8.0
nitrite:0
nitrate: 10ppm
calcium: 440ppm
KH: 161
phosphate: 1.0
SG: 1.023

Given that this happened very recently, parameters as of 2/3 are not very helpful. So that we can help, please provide current parameters as well as more info about the system - size, age, filatration, etc.. Also, how much did you top off?

Edit - Phosphates appear very high - where are you getting your RODI from?

i agree recent parameters would probably be most helpful...i got my rodi water from a LFS, called rainbow aquarium off of woodman in arleta, ca. it's a 60gallon, 4yrs old, using a fluvial canister filter and a refugium/sump with swc skimmer. topped off 1-2gallons because i haven't topped it off for about a week.

With this information, there are three potential causes that come to mind (may be a combination of all three):

(1) Not topping off for a week and then topping off all at once is not good and likely caused a significant salinity swing that could have stressed the nem. You should aim to top off once a day at minumum. If you ever forget to do so, don't add the RO all at once, but rather in small increments over the course of a day or so.

(2) Pull that canister filter - nothing but a nitrate and phosphate factory. This may explain the high phosphates. You should be fine with just your live rock and skimmer.

(3) I would run TDS, Nitrate and Phosphate tests on the store-bought RODI. I have heard may horror stories where LFSs use old filters, etc. and the RO they sell contains serious impurities.

does anyone know if this is a normal thing for RBTA's? i did a 5 gallon water change and turned the lights up brighter, and it seemed to be doing fine, meaning it stopped to sag. but this morning it started to sag again.

came home to this after work. and its expelling brown mucous! should i take it out of my tank??

parameters:

nitrate- 10 ppm
nitrite- 0ppm
nh3- 0.50ppm
ph- 8.2
phosphate- 0.5ish
temp- 80

i did a 15 gallon water change 3 days ago

It could be pooping. Sounds weird but they shrivel up when they do that. It doesn't look like it is in bad shape other then the shrinking. Give it some time and just keep an eye on it.
