Lion fish stopped eating last week

First time on forum. I have a mature lion fish in my 300 gal FO. Healthy past 21/2 months. Was feeding small silversides. Stopped eating last week although now he will take a small piece in mouth, 15 minutes later after trying to ingest, looks as though he's choking it down?, then spits it out. He looks fine, acts normal except for not eating. Any thoughts why this behavior? Kar19

Any new additions to the tank? Change anything recently in terms of the environment (other than usual things like water/media changes)? Anything missing in terms of lifestock (including snails or hermit crabs)?

If you're just feeding the fish silversides, try offering it something else such as appropriately-sized chunks of shell-on raw table shrimp, SW fish flesh (salmon, tuna, snapper, etc), squid, or scallops.

Our adult volitans gets bored every so often if we don't mix its diet up enuff.

Also, how old are the silversdes, and have they been thawed/refrozen?

Finally, if it won't rise to any of these foods, you can offer it a live molly or crayfish (I usually pull the pincers off).

Vitamins C and B12 also help boost the appetite.
