lion over feeding ?

i have a volitans lion and i am concerned that it will die from being over fed, he is the biggest pig in the tank every time i throw a silverside in he races over and sucks it up before the other fish have a chance to even realize whats going on, his belly is so full it looks like its gonna pop. is this dangerous will the lion stop eating before it harms itself or will it doom itself. please share your experience thanks

I've had several Lions in the past and I tried to only feed 3 times a week. Depending on the size 2-3 silvers should it. I don't think he will pop if he eats "too much". He's just a growing boy. You are lucky, most lions I've had are finiky eaters.

Lions are notorious gluttons, they will eat to the point of regurgitation at times, 3-4 feedings a week would work well,try to feed him just enough to see a slight bulge in his stomach. If your lion is like mine this is easier said than done.

yes much easier said than done i even try to drop in food on the opposite side of the tank and most of the time he bullys everyone out of his way. lol and yes he is a growing boy his body is about 4 inches i got him a few months ago and he seems like he has grown a ton. the lfs owner near me loves his lions and prides himself in his lions eating frozen food, at first he was picky but i guess thats normal i gave him some ghost shrimp to get him eating and that was all it took now i am worrying about him eating to death.
