they actually look at the card number & enter it in the stre computer, they checked for mine when I was there last/:fish2:

Ya know I've been there a bunch of times (I live a few blocks away) and never used my card, just for bird food n stuff for my turtles. Think when I finally set up my tank ill have to see how they are on livestock prices

Prices are really fair.
Speaking of fair, I saw a huge Purple Polyped Monti Cap at Aqua Hut today. I think the price was $69, which was great considering the size.
The coral looks brown, but trust me, it's a winner under the right conditions.

Well I went today to PWH, spent about $1400.00. I asked tham about LIRA discount, they said it would not apply to todays purchases. They did, however, give a credit for $140.00(that would be the 10% off) toward fish, I'm not sure if that applies to rock. I thought that was odd, why not just give the discount on the $1400.00?

yeah very weird, 
They never asked me for my LIRA card, and sometimes they just ask if you a member of Reef Central if so they also honor that with a 10% discount.
maybe they can't discount tanks and some other supplies? but they did give you $140 credit toward your next purchase.

I recently purchased some stuff from a new store at Carmans Plaza in Massapequa. (Pathmark Shopping center) The prices were comparable to Pets Warehouse. They don't have as much stock, but what they have seems healthy. The people are helpful there, too. The name of the store is Amimal House and the number is 798-3940. I don't know if they'll give a discount to LIRA members since I just joined.
My husband got me a tank from them for Christmas and they delivered with no charge. The price of the tank was just a little lower than at Pets Warehouse.

Good luck with the tank. Take your time and plan it out. It's tough but try and avoid impulse decisions. This is a great forumn to get opinions.
I just got back today from Pets Warehouse they are now banned from posting in this forum some some kind of promo they posted.
Bob and Brad aren't too happy about it and they said their e-mails to the mods were ignored.
This is a bunch of crap when everybody else promotes stores here. They have been long time supporters of the fish community.
So now they can't respond to the post here in this thread.
I myself as an avid shopper there don't think according to what they said were treated fairly here.
They said they are considering halting discounts to RC and lira members because of being banned, so maybe if anyone agrees say so.
I feel they should be reinstated.

LIRA has nothing to do with RC so getting mad at us will do them no good. thats rather spitefull and foolish.
and if they were promoting other stores I think that would be fine. but I had to stop promoting my store, I've never seen Bill, Anthony, or Les promote their stores here so theres a big difference.

most folks (vendors) simply get word of mouth promotions from happy clients. I personally have not seenTom, Tony, Cindy, Bill, Les & the rest self promote. Im even sad Tom is no longer active with the livestock. LIRA has no say what RC staff do, if thats not obvious yet.

I also talked to Brad at PW on saturday. I mentioned the 10% discount on the $ 1400 sale. Brad explained that the margin of profit on the tank is not much. He offered the customer a 140.00 credit on livestock. I guess they should advertise that the 10% is not valid on the set-up. Anyone who has worked in this business know the margins are not high on the set-up. The set-up is your first free shot of this addicting hobby, the real money is in the purchases after that. They may have had there problems with the board but I have always been treated fairly by them
