Needs some help please.

My tank is a 90 gal, with a 60 gal sump and Euro reef skimmer.
Water parameters;
CA 470ish
Temp 72-74
Nitrate 0
amonia 0
sal 1.025
ppm 40

I have not added any corals in over three months and fish in over 1 1/2 years until yesterday.

In the last three weeks my corals have been slowly receeding, whole colonies of zooz have disppeared. my torches died and my mushrooms are shrinking. Even my green star polyps are in decline.

For the life of me i cant firgure it out. In 12 years of reef keeping i have never had this happen.

Yesterday i added a small tomatoe clown. I checked him over in the store and he looked good, chubby and clean. I brought him home, gave him a quick 2 minute fresh water dip and then released him into my tank. with in an hour i noticed he had 3 protruding white spots on him. I gave him and hour then then fed the tank, he ate. Should i be concerned?

I have a 4 year old yellow tang in the tank who is healthy and fat, he is showing no signs of distress or sickness. My snail population is large and always reproducing.

Any ideas?

My next step will be a 10 gal water change each day for the next couple days??????

Protruding white spots aren't really a good thing. Could be sand or bubbles stuck to the fish, otherwise its probably disease. If you can get a clear picture of the spots and post it that could help in a diagnosis. Otherwise look into diseases where white spots are a symptom, like lymphocystis, marine ich, etc and continue to watch for other symptoms. Water changes won't hurt, but if the clown has a communicable disease they probably won't solve your problem. Quarantine is your friend. :)

I don't know what could be causing your trouble with the corals. Have you changed your bulbs recently? Any chance something toxic, like a penny, might have fallen in the tank?

I have not changed my bulbs in a year. I was going to but i think i may hold off until i figure this out.

coaral could be with your bulbs or how many watts per gallon and what type of light are you using. Also you may not be using the CA - have you seen a decline after a second test in a few days? If not then your Mag level can be out of wack which does not allow the CA to be used.

For the fish, I'd have to consult my diease book - i'd suggest picking one up. won't know till I get home.

Im running two 20k DE 150 watt halides and two 96watt 36" attinics. The halides are on for 3 1/2 hours a day.
Up until 3 weeks ago i was throwing purple and pink mushrooms in the garbage because they were spreading so fast. My ricordi split twice in the three months leading up to the decline. And my gsp's were spreading nicely as well.

If you've had that rapid of a coral decline, I would look into contaminates in the tank or anything that you have changed about your husbandry routine.

I have not changed my routine with the tank at all. The only thing i can think of is something is getting through my RO from my well.
