Hi all like the title says I have little to none polyp extension, and I was wondering if it is my flame angel. All of my corals are growing witch are some monties, and acroporas. I do see my flame angel picking at them then when I come up to the tank he hides. My tank is a 120gal and all my tests are good alk 8
Mag 1400
Cal 420
Po 0.04
Nitrate 0
Salinity 1.024

Thanks

I think I have the same situation here...
I have a coral beauty. I had good polyp extension with my acroporas before leaving for a week on vacations (fishes were fed only 3 times that week).
Since then my acropora valida an two other acroporas show alomost no PE during the day. no pests
(I had red bugs before but it was treated succesfully with no change in PE at all) and growing well anyways...
My two milleporas and another acropora have nice PE during the day so I"m a little bit puzzled...

didn't have success trying to catch the angel...

here is a before my trip and after :

Yeah it's your flame angel, just like it's my flame angel that reduces PE in my tank. But in a tank that big it shouldn't be too big a deal...

I have an angel in my tank as well and it limits the PE during the day. If I turn my moon lights on when it's still dark in the morning, I have great PE which leads me to believe its the angel.

+1.......
Same experience here lately in my 190g DT. It has been behaving good for 3months since I got it from a reefer then now start to pick my hairy bali green acro stag. My ost suffering are my Aussie acan. Now in the beta box waiting to lure him in haha. But had been 3days seem he is smarter than me. A winner never quit, quiter never win.

Well I don't have red bugs nor the flat worms and baised off of most peoples response and their experiences with flame angels and Sps I'm going to give it a try and remove him to see if that helps. How long should it take to start to see more polyp extension after removing him? That way I know if it was the angel or not.
Thank you

I'd say within a day or two. That's how long it took for recovery of daytime PE in my tank after I got my yellow clown goby that was nipping SPS out of my DT.

Strange I have a very happy and content flame angel in a tank full of SPS, have never seem him pick on corals.

I consider my PE as "above average" even, during the day.
