If you get a frothing incident that fills the cup too fast, you can also, with this skimmer mounted outside the tank, get backflow out the two little ports on the column, which can hit your floor even if the cup is still ok. To stop this, I cut two 8" lengths of airline hose, stuck them on the ports, and that way any backflow goes right back into the tank, not onto my floor.
