Unit 1, Day 5

01/26/07 21:00EST

Measurements and Observations

7.91 pH
26.6 C
1.018 salinity
Rotifers: 9/ml
Water this time was pretty much totally clear tint-wise

Water siphon

1.5 gallons out and replaced with 1.5 gallons parent water. A bottom siphon was done this time comprising of the entire 1.5 gallons. The dead were near impossible to count due to them being in various stages of decomposition and the live needing to be returned numbered about 140. (I stopped counting after 100)

Additions:

Rotifers:
6/ml to bring density up to 15 per milliliter

1.0grams CloramX

½ cup Randy’s Baked Baking soda solution

1ml IA Nanno 3600

Unit 1, Day 6

01/27/07 22:00EST

Measurements and Observations

7.94 pH
26.8 C
1.018 salinity
Rotifers: 3/ml
Water this time was not nearly as clear tint-wise as yesterday and the rotifers were almost completely consumed

Water siphon

1.5 gallons out and replaced with 1.5 gallons parent water. A bottom siphon was done this time comprising of the entire 1.5 gallons. The dead were near impossible to count due to them being in various stages of decomposition. This occurred as I siphoned the areas I didn’t get to yesterday and the live needing to be returned numbered 26. Looks like they’re starting to come off the bottom.

Additions:

Rotifers:
9/ml to bring density up to 12 per milliliter

1.0grams CloramX

Randy’s Baked Baking soda solution was not administered today so that it’s effects can be quickly measured.

1ml IA Nanno 3600
