live brine

I picked up a blonde naso, he's been a finicky eater.. I've been feeding him some brown macro but I am out now, and he's still not eating anything frozen. Anyone or anywhere local carry live brine? If not, anyone have a recommended place to order from? Thanks for your help.

I don't know if this helps but our LFS has live brine shrimp everyday. They get fresh deliveries on Tuesdays

I wouldnt try live brine with a naso, go to wall mart or any asian market and buy some sushi soak it in garlic and see if that helps. Do you have any other tangs in the same tank? what size naso is it?

i have some nori in there.. it nibbles occasionally, but not enough to get nutrition. I have garlic guard that i've soaked a lot of food in, but haven't tried it on the seaweed. The naso is probably 4 inches. I also have a chevron. I've heard that brown algae and brine entice them to eat.. I'm desperate and feel led to try brine. If nothing else it will be something different for my other fish.

He should go just as nuts for frozen brine, probably mysis and cyclopeeze too. Formula 2 and 1 are great frozen foods to get him going on also.

A while back (about 2 years) when they were still decent , I remember Petcity used to sell it by the teaspoon .. I doubt they still do , My suggestion would be , that if none of the other advice suits your needs , hatch your own .. I did it for a while and it was pretty cut and dry ... I still have the hatchery and a few packs of eggs that you are welcome to if they would help ... You can also find these at almost any saltwater stores... Good luck and let us know what you decide and how things work out..

How long does it take to hatch them out? I have tried formula 1, cyclo, bloods, mysis, RN arctipods, nori, and brown macro.. I had him fat on the brown. Wish i had saved some for him. He is quite skinny now, its been about a week and a half since a filling meal. I gave pet city a call and they no longer offer brine.

It takes a a day and a half to 2 days if my memory serves me , I could be wrong . .. Chances are newly hatched Brine may or may not be too small..

I really like the Garlic Idea with Nori and Sushi...

Anyone local have any brown macro? ... Perhaps make a seperate thread asking for some , to perhaps tide you over until you find a suitable substitute

My only experience with sushi is purchasing them as cut up rolls or served up at the metro. Is this the same sushi you are referring to that I should soak and sink? Which is the recommended sushi? Have some nori soaking now... thanks eric.

Ade would be the better person to answer this question , as it sounds as though he may have actually done it, and I have not ... Hopefully he will chime in shortly ...

Yeah. I remember back in the day... Prolly 15+ years ago when Pet City used to have a 40 breeder with live (well not really that live) brine. It was pretty cheap too from what I recall. It was by the bag too like the fish bag type bag. ...

What are the stores in C'burg?

zooquatic and C&P (if they are still in business....no way they will all survive being that close to each other and the opening of PetSmart in the same vicinity).

The sushi I use is Yaki Sushi Nori made by Assi Brand. It is roasted seaweed 100 sheets, 10oz or 283 grams, I rip a sheet in two and wet with tank water and soak in galic and water for a min or two. By that time my fish are freeking out in front of the tank. All my fish eat it and it is gone in about 10 mins. I guess you could also add selcon for extra nutrtional value. I have a blonde naso in my 120 and I will say at first the fish are a little freeked out by the nori clip but mine got use to it. I place it in the same part of the tank every time I feed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. I found some brine hatch mix at UA and have them there hatching.. hopefully its still good. I'll just be waiting the tang to see if she eats. Wish me luck!
