Live rock complicated scenario.

I would at least start with the LR next to/on top of the dead rock. This gives a good chance to organisms colonizing your dead stuff. After say 2 months, absolutely fine in my mind to move it to the fuge. If you do decide to get more LR than needed, and select what you want for your DT, you can now also throw the extra in your fuge instead of reselling.

You can have the skimmer in the overflow compartment. The fuge is REAL nice, helps prevent PH swings and removes phosphates and nutrients, BUT with a large system like you have, I would tend to think your swings would be MUCH smaller than people with smaller tanks.

so if i add 50 lbs of live rock to my tank, i can put 25 lbs in tank display with dead rock and 25 lbs in refugium? actually i think im just going to put all 50 lbs in the tank, i dont want to take short cuts at this point...

What is bora rock? If it's not limestone you won't get very good growth on it. Some people put stuff like bowl rock or tufa rock in their tanks. Coraline doesn't like it.

actually i just went to the lfs and asked them again, the rock i have is spaghetti rock...very porous and good, they say, but u have any opinion on that or advice?

Should be fine. It's generally a more expensive rock type. What people like is largely just personal preference.

get an image hosting site. The most popular one is photobucket. They are free. Download your pics there. Then when you place your cursor over the photo in your album, there should a drop-down menu. At the bottom of that menu, there should be a link, should start something like [ img ]http://......... Left click on that. Then right click on it, hit copy, then past it in your message.

If you have an image already on the internet, all you have to do is insert the address with what's called BB-codes. Example:

you want to post the "cnn logo"

you found the image through google images, and highlight and copy the address to the picture. This address must end in a .jpg, .jpeg, etc.

you type in: [ img ] http://www.smokeindaeye.com/images/cnn_21fq.jpg [ /img ] JUST LEAVE OUT THE SPACES

And.....

I like that rock a lot. Nice porosity. 300# looks real nice in there, maybe a LITTLE less. The only think I would like to see different(obviously just my opinion) is a little more irregularity. To me it looks very human-designed, where if say you had a taller lump on the left, another lump on the right, but slightly less, and then maybe like a valley in the center.

PS, maybe it's just coloration, is that rock cleaned? It looks like it is caked in dirt, mud, or something.

Thanks chief, well when i received the rock in boxes, the guy told me just wash them out good and put them in ur tank....So its what i did.. the colour on them was the same before washing and the same now after putting in my aragonite, water and salt..but yeah, i love the shape and colour...cost me 3 bucks a pound...so, yaa 900 bucks..now, lol..i have to buy 50 lbs of live rock..so, i phoned around, going price is, 5-7 bucks a pound, im looking at another 300 bucks..see? good point here..if i did my homework first, i wouldn't be in this position but its ok i guess...Now im spending the weekend doing my plumbing, putting in my sump, skimmer, etc, and starting it up...
