I recently purchased quite a bit of live rock from a private party and 2 large starfish hitch-hikers came along with it. one brittle star and one red serpent sea star. they are both about 8 inches long and im concerned they will eat my smaller clownfish. Are these things known do that. If they are how would i go about getting rid of them?

I have a brittle star that has grown from a leg span of about 5" to almost 12" now, and it hides under the rocks and grabs food from the water column every time I feed. I have several smaller fish, including a lawnmover blenny and diamond goby that often walk right over its legs without any issues. I also have clowns and wrasses that have been completely left alone. I realize that not all members of s species are the same, but I think the brittle star should be fine.

I do not have any experience with a red serpent star.

Thats comforting. According to L.A. red serpents stars are peaceful. Will toss them in the tank and keep a close eye on them tonight. Thank you Bigjohn i appreciate the help.
