Live Rock in Stock

Any little bit will help, I just recommend around 20% to seed with if you're going to use dry rock for your system. My main recommendation of course if to use all liverock, but of course that's personal preference, and certainly not to say you can't have an amazing looking system when using dry.

I already had all the dry rock laying around for the tank. I didn't realize it took that much to seed it. I thought 10lbs or so would help but I guessed wrong. it's been a LOOONG time since I started a new tank. :D
Thanks for the help, I'm not sure what I'll do. I just got water in the tank his week after curing/cycling the rock for 4 months. Rich in time for my clubs expo?!!!

the more rock will just seed alot faster. when i set my 220 up i threw a large piece in my sump to get the bacteria flowing until i was able to completely cycle the tank and get the livestock moved over from the old tank. then I added about 100 pounds from the old setup.

Right. I cycled my rock for 4 months by "ghost" feeding a piece of shrimp in the vat. Now, all tests read zero and I want to get some live rock maybe with some coraline to help seed the new tank

What I have read the Real Reef rock is already fully cured but my question is would I still be able to add the rock to tank that has been already up in running for a year?

Would I have still have to cure it?

You would not need to re-cure Real Reef if you decide to go that route. The life on the Real Reef is mainly bacteria, there isn't any sponge or plant life that would cause the need for curing after it's shipped to you.
