Live Rock placement in Display tank or Sump

Hi Everyone:

In December, I had to change the floors at my place and did a tank move. When I put the tank back together, I changed the aquascape and have used less Live Rock in the display. I know the more live rock in a setup, the better it is for filtration.

My questions is will it make a difference if I keep the excess live rock in the sump and/or refug or must the live rock be placed in the display tank for better filtration.

Not a bit. Sump and dt all one system. You can put all the rock in the sump if you wanted

Just be sure to not let it become a detritus trap or your filtration will be all for nought.

I take the sump rock out every once in awhile and swish them in a bucket. I siphon out the gunk underneath at the same time.
