Do you think its ok to put back in main display tank now!!

I had about 100 lbs of LR in a rubber maid container in the corner of my garage after removing from my main tank so that I could redo and install a refugium.I put about 100 lbs back in between the refugium and display tank. While cleaning up the garage I discovered that I forgot about the LR and it became Dead Rock the container dried up.I Cleaned the rock and have been cycling in QT tank for about 2mts and all test come out fine.

Should be fine. Lots of people "kill" or "cook" their LR to remove hitchhikers. As long as its been in QT for 2 months, there shouldn't be a cycle after you add it to your system.

Now if its only been in QT for 2 weeks, you may see a spike in the ammonia.

I added some really dead stuff that had been out of a tank for a year and only saw a little hair algae grow on it, which amazed me.....doesn't grow anywhere else......but the new stuff, which makes one wonder about how where and why it would....why is the new stuff so special?

I would add it slowly over the course of a few weeks and check your nitrates. You could have a big dead creepy crawler that is slowly decomposing. Probably won't be, but better safe than sorry. I added some a while back and "forgot" that a spike could result......I ended up with over 50ppm Nitrates. After changing out nearly 50gals.....remember I live in an apartment and lug 5gal jugs for water.......I got tired of it and tried the sugar method of nitrate reduction......so maybe it wasn't such a "bad" thing afterall......let to an increase in my knowledge.

Thanks for the input Jim and Doug.

I'm only going to add 1 piece at a time just to be safe.If alll test ok I will add one more piece next week.If I can figure out the photo bucket thing I will try to post some pictures.
