Live rock question

A friend of mine just moved up from Tampa Bay, FL. He is into collecting fossils. He was looking at a construction site and found huge pieces of fossilized coral. He told me he doesn't want them anymore and asked if I could use them in my tank?

Any ideas on if this is possible?

Here are some pictures

probably ok, but it seems pretty dense. If you're hoping to use it for live rock, usually more porous rock is recommended.

Well to be honest its almost like a sponge. The holes are very tiny almost to the point you can't see them, but if you put it in water it soaks up the water.

I don't need it in my tank but may hold onto it for another tank in the future.
