live rock transfer

I had 750 pounds of live rock in a well lit SPS dominant office reeftank from 2003-2009 it had tons of coraline alge on it.

It has always been in the water. I moved it to my house, and it has been sitting in my sump, with no lighting since then, as part of my grow out system. There is a cover on my sump and I have not looked at it since. I am soon going to put it into a display tank that I am setting up.

Should I be concerned about a alge bloom on the rocks since it will now be under lighting ?

Only if it is drenched in sediments and crud fallen from your display tank into the sump, i.e. if it is carrying a heavy load of organics along with it then thy rocks shalt surely bloom.

I bet there is a bunch of stuff in there

I will for sure give them a good SW flush when they come out of the sump

if the sump has been completely dark you have created something like a cryptic zone and you will find lots of interesting goodies when you open the lid.
