At the moment I am "highly considering" opening a reef shop. I will let you know the name once I am 100% on it. The 12 volt market is crap and just not sure of the future. I love my car audio, but the industry makes me hate it.
I agree to a point for sure, but just remember when you go into a nice shop with awesome service and a friendly feel, you aren't buying a product, you are buying service and quality
Reason I build my subwoofers in America and not China, you get quality and service.
I love debates as well, helps me even more with my choice. Shows me what I need to do and what I need to look for. I appreciate it as well, although I am on top of my game hehe. I would love to get some mantis and pistol shrimp as well as other exotics you do not see in stores. Black tang, clown trigger, pink aquare anthias, and others you just do not see in local stores. I believe if you are in the hobby, you don't want the same thing your neighbor has, what would be the fun in that you know.

If you start a new buisness, I wish you good luck, think about some of the things I have said, some of the buisnesses only think about the biggers $ per sale.
About 1 hr. away there is a AC Buis. he gets over 80 % of all new AC sales out of dozens of AC companys, why?
True Example: I built a new 4400 sf. under roof home almost 5 years ago NOV. will be 5
I called all local AC guys waited 1mo. then 2 mo. my time and patients are running out!
Called, do you want my buis. or not be out there ,3 dif. Ac comp. said.
3rd mo. came, Now this is on a fri. so I called a guy I used to race with the one about 1 hour away.
I asked do you want my buisness, quick answer yes!
When can you look, give bid, and start before we go any father? This afternoon, will look, give bid while i am there before i leave.
He came, looked, gave me a bid, said can start mon. and will be finished wed.
I 5 ton unit 1 3 1/2 ton Train units, $8300.00 ducking and all!
We shook hand he did it, I payed the end of that!
The closest other bid i got was from a company i buy over $100,000.00 a year worth of materials from cut me a big discount There price $14,000.00 WHAT !!
I don't need discounts like that.
My point is, The guy only made a few hundred off the sale to me, but when he sells 80 % in our area , who makes more money?
The end result is like I said, don't try to make it all off one customer! SIMPLE Rember our kids are smarter then we were at there ages, look to the future they are.
They get alot more tought to them from better quallified teachers today so you can't get away with the gouging for much longer, If you havn't noticed there are not many buisnessees still open that don't evolve with the times.
And as internet access gets to more and more country folks they will start to see that there are some other options.

I feel the same about my buisness, I give free bids. So i know what you mean about wasting time, but it is part of the game.I have had customers come back and tell me I was too high, they can get it cheaper from an out of town company, I say go far it too their face with a smile on mine
I do provide a #1 service to all my customers and have a lot of repete customers.That means something on $15 -40,000.00 jobs.
I order and get the materials and deliver myself and me and my partner do the work
ourselves, We don't have to worry about employees not showing up or stealing you blind.Or doing a shabby job. Thats why we do it our selves.
I have even went up on prices before because a customer said they could save a few bucks, so I $50.00 more to mine above the comp. because mine must have been too cheap for the type of workmanship they have!
I still got the work! Smart customer! Did another job for them they didn't say anything like that again!
Here at the LFS you don't get good service at all, so you can't compare the two.IMO
I have seen the dead fish ya'll are talking about, floating in the fish tanks, I asked a girl that worked in that department and she said well the crabs will eat them when we turn the lights out, if not we will remove them in the morning when we get here!
I said what about all the little kids looking at this. No response she walked away!
LAZY LAZY, I wonder why their so called live rock and tanks are covered in red slime!
