Live rock

Hello everyone,
First I'll introduce myself, my name is Mike and I am BRAND new to SW/Reef tanks. I'll have my set up ready to go after Christmas but am currently looking for some live rock in the area that someone might want to sell.

My set up:

40 gallon seaclear acrylic
Marineland emperor 400 hob filter with biowheel
Marineland 36in reef capable led
Koralia 750

Anyone around Buffalo have an extra piece or looking to rearrange there tank and have no need for a piece and looking to get rid of that would be awesome. After Christmas I want to set it all up so I figured I would ask now. Thanks EVERYONE.

Sorry for the poor quality but it would only let me upload a small file from my phone. My other photos at 3.5 mb

Nice start!!!!

Couple of observations: It appears you need to add a few gallons of water to the display. I'm assuming this isn't running into a sump at all. I try to keep my water up to about a half inch or so below the top of trim.

Next, what is all the bubble/agitation in the middle of the tank?

Good eye haha. I have the tank only 80% full. I picked up live rock from someone locally along with the coral and about 50% of the water. I have noticed that it has bubble algae growing on it so i have added 2 emerald crabs and 3 turbo snails. I Left it at 80% because I havent decided how i wanted the aqua scape yet along so it has made it easier to move the things around without having to fulling take them out. So far I have done 1 water change of about 10% water change just to clean things up. and get things started. This weekend I plan on doing a large water change and taking out the rock that has the bubble algae and scrapping it off then filling the tank up to about 1/2 inche below the top. The bubbles you are seeing are from the skimmer i just put on. Its a seaclone 100 and the reviews said that after a break in period of about a week the bubbles will go away. Any other suggestions? The sump method seems expensive and complicated for just starting off. Maybe down the road i will go that route.

Ahhh ok!

That agitation is because your tank is so low at the moment...once you raise the llevel up you wont get that big splash you see as well as the salt creep around that area.

Honestly...you should mix up some new sw and get that level up there. You will need to adjust your skim accordingly b/c of the water height change.
