It depends on where you are and what the current regulations are for the locale. Florida for example has a moratorium on live rock collection and regulations on collecting fish and other critters that are strictly enforced. So if your planning a trip somewhere, do your homework first

I was planning on a trip, i think it would so much more exciting to have caught your own fish or live rock. I would love to do it someday. Thanks for getting back to me.

florida you cant touch rock, you can collect alot of differant kinds of fish. You can go to the florida regulations website to see what is prohibited.
