LiveAquaria's Criteria for a Pair

I see pairs of fish come on for sale on LiveAquaria once in a while, mostly in Diver's Den.

What is the criteria for your company to label to specimen's a "pair"? Do you require that they are collected together? Do you sell them as pairs because they coexist in your holding tank? Are they breeding pairs?

Another example I am curious about is the common goby and shrimp pair. Do you only sell them as pairs if the fish and shrimp were collected together or do you also sell them as pairs if a shrimp and goby pair up in your holding tanks?

ralphie, what is the difference if a shrimp and goby pair in the tank or in the wild? I have several shrimp goby pairs that paired up after introduction. I purchased the individual animals from Dr F&S.

Thank you for your excellent questions! All of the pairs we offer in our Diver's Den section are wild caught pairs. These fish, including our goby/shrimp pairs, are collected together in their natural habitats. We have also been informed that while these have been carefully harvested together, they may not have bred for us while being kept in our holding tanks. Should you select and order one of our great pairs, we are confident you will enjoy watching their interactions in your aquarium!
