Liverock order

I have been reading that this is the best place to get Liverock but I just recieved my shipment of 40 pounds of cured Fiji. I must say it wasnt what I expected. Hardly any corraline AT ALL. In fact I dont see much of anything alive on this rock, they are nice pieces as far as shapes and some big sizes but I also asked the lady I ordered from if she could include a few small pieces for my nano reef and I didnt recieve any. I suppose I could break one of the big ones into smaller pieces but it wont look right. Does the corraline, corals, macroalgae etc. that you guys claim your rock contains take time to show itself? I dont understand and am not sure that I am satisfied with this order.

Hi,

Please contact me directly M-F between 9am and 6pm eastern so I can talk to you about your rock you received. Or if you prefer, email me your name and a good time to call you and I will call Monday morning.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Their rock is the best. When rock is shipped or being cured you will lose the colors of the coraline algae. Probally the rock you recieved was in the middle of the curing or fully cured and any macro algaes that might of been attached have fallen off or perished which is very common. In due time with proper Calcium and Alkalinity your rock will regain color and you will see critters and possilby marco algae will reappear. Pictures your seeing is raw rock and will most likely take a long time to cure. Their rock is cured nicely and has awesome shapes. Jeremy is a great guy and I know from experience.

I guess only time will tell. There are a couple rocks with really small pink spots on them but thats about it, hardly anything else is visible on this stuff. Like I said, great sizes and shapes but I also didnt get the small pieces for my nano like I was promised.
I got the cured rock, how long do you think I should let it cure, I have no ammonia/nitrites or anything bad after the first 4 days. It seems like it might not need further curing especially if there wasnt much on the rock to die off in the first place. Should I have went with the uncured rock?

Well that email didnt help me at all Jeremy, and after seeing what quality of rock other people recieved from you, I am very ****ed.

I would like to share something with everyone just to get some opinions:
Here is what it says on "Premium" Aquatics website:

Picture Shown is 2 pieces weighing about 20 pounds, these are large pieces. This is a sample of our fully cured rock. This rock is 2 weeks old, just getting started to start growing out. If you look real close on the picture on the right, you'll see macro algae plants, small corals, and even on the right bottom, you'll notice a small colony of green zooanthids.

Fiji Rock is a very light weight rock from the Pacific. It has very gnarled and unique shapes. It is one of the most popular rocks for building reefs due to it's light weight and high capacity for bacteria growth. It has very dark purples and some orange coraline algae growths. It also produces some small sps corals after a few months in an established tank.

NOTE: We cure our rock in 600gallon pools with halide lights and large skimmers, it's an almost zero ammonia enviroment. This is almost impossible to do in a small tank or trash can, so basiclaly we can do this job much better then the average aquarist. We get premium raw plant rock and cure. You will get as good if not better rock buying our cured then trying tranship rock at the going 2.25 a pound price. We charge per pound on the rock, when you buy rock from us, you get actual weight. We use a Legal For Trade scale and give you the rock weight you ordered, plus the box.

Now here is the picture of what you are "supposed" to recieve:

Hell yeah, thats some good liverock right there. COVERED with corraline, macroalgae, some zooanthids and look even a hitchhiker!!! Give me a break, this is false advertisement in my opinion. The rock I recieved was a hair shy from being base rock. If I even had HALF of the stuff on my rock as advertised on their website, I wouldnt be here complaining. I voiced my displeasure to Jeremy and all I got was the cold shoulder telling me how the corraline, macroalgae and corals would appear from nowhere within time. Thats rubbish if you ask me. I voiced my displeasure again and now Jeremy is evidentally ignoring me. These guys are a member of the BBB also??? Maybe I should be giving them a call. Or maybe even the FTC.
If you cant deliver something you advertise you really should consider changing your advertisement.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention AGAIN......I also did not recieve any smaller pieces for my nano reef like I was promised by the lady that took my order.

I assure you that Jeremy and Premium Aquatics aren't trying to screw you out of your money man. I've had the pleasure of being able to see their facility on a regular basis, and the rock they have really is nice looking stuff.

One thing you need to realize, is that when rock is FULLY cured, it sheds most of the things that was once growing on it. This is because when the rock is shipped to the US initially, it is not in water. If you've ever taken a coralline encrusted piece of equipment/rock out of the water for even a few minutes, you should have noticed that the corraline turns white (dies) quickly and eventually flakes off.

This is why rock is usually devoid of life after the curing process. That's the whole reason you cure rock in the first place. Give it a couple of weeks, please. Your rock will come back quickly and things literally will appear out of no where. In a month, you'll have plenty of coralline.

All of my rock/equipment has come from PA. They are wonderful people down there, and honestly there is no reason to get bent out of shape. You said so yourself that you got nice looking shapes. Now you need to wait for the life to come back from being shipped... TWICE.

The nano-rock ordeal is a simple mistake. We're all human, people make mistakes, and I highly doubt that Jeremy is trying to ignore you. You can't expect great service once you start making threats like going to the BBB.

If there is such a problem, stop relying on the internet to take care of your problem. Call PA up and talk to someone in person.

Whats the difference if I call the guy or talk to him on an internet forum? Besides this is the best place to ask for customer service because you know you are going to recieve some.

Actually, the best policy is to always talk over the phone, or via email, rather than in public. Our conversations are private while we are working out a solution to resolve your problem. If you want to publicly post what happens after it's all said and done, then by all means that is up to you. However, it is bad practice to drag this into a public forum for all correspondence to try and hold that above our heads to ensure that "you are going to receive some", customer service that is.

I don't take threats of "im going to contact the BBB or the FTC" very well just so you can try and get what you want. Premium Aquatics was founded on the basis to go above and beyond for every customer, and always do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Regardless of what you have threatened to do in this forum I was still going to replace your rock for free of charge, it's just unfortunate that it has had to of come to all of this in a public forum before a resolution has even been offered to you after I gave you my explanation of why the rock looked the way it did.

Jeremy, I'm not trying to be an a$$ or just trying to get something free out of you. The rock is already in my tank, I'm just gonna give it a chance. I can send you pictures if you want, my digital camera's picture quality is horrible but I can try it. Of course the rock has some corraline on it, I can see it under my actinics or moon lights, but I was under the impression (from pictures and descriptions on your website) that the rock was way better than this. There really wasnt much life on it at all. This is why I was dissapointed. I did a lot of research before I purchased my liverock to see who had the best available. Your company seemed like the best route.
I got bent out of shape because you didnt return my second email so I thought you just blew me off, not to mention I was in a very bad mood yesterday so I apoligize for that. All I really want is the nano rock I was promised, maybe 10 pounds thats all. I really need some rock for my 12 gallon nano and I was told that I would recieve some. And if you could send me just a couple of really nice rocks for my 200 gallon I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,
Kevin

Like I said, I apoligize for that. I was under the impression that this forum was ok to post for customer service. Other people do it when its positive feedback. The threats were way out of line but please try to understand that I was very frustrated and in a bad mood last night. Once again I apoligize.

I still dont agree with your advertisement, its the furthest thing from what your customers actually recieve. At least let your customers KNOW what they are spending hundreds of dollars on, instead of it being based on over exaggerated pictures and descriptions. Some of us arent as financially well off as you may be. I am fairly new to the hobby but I am smart enough to know a marketing scheme when I see one.

just wondering if you were sorry for your remarks, why are you still posting negative ones, again there is a forum for this, and if you have a problem with the advertisements that should be a conversation between you and Jeremy, no need to bash a business in public, He offered to fix the problem, and if you choose to not shop there then that's your business. As far as Im concerned, This post makes me want to shop with premium aquatics, knowing If I had a prob, Looks like I could talk to Jeremy personally.

You should be able to talk with him personally, thats what this forum is for genius. Why dont you tell me why negative feedback shouldnt be allowed in this forum but positive feedback is the only thing that is acceptable? The word contradictory comes to mind. Also if you had read these posts thoroughly you would have realized I apoligized for the threats, that doesnt mean I'm suddenly happy with the service I have recieved. And please, know the whole story before you insert foot in mouth. By the way, who are you anyway? Does this have something to do with you? Shop til you drop!!! Literally!

Oh and just FYI, once this situation has or hasnt been resolved I will provide my negative or positive feedback for EVERYONE to read whether you or anyone likes it or not.

Jeremy check your email.

I've never ordered from this company, but you're getting bent out of shape over nothing. You're better of not receiving the stuff you "didn't receive" on your rock. Why would you want macro on your rock work? Why would you want it to come with zoanthids on it? Zoanthids are great, but not when they come on all your rock, they can take over and choke out corals you would rather have in their place. Same goes for the macro algae... It amazes me how many people don't know what "Live Rock" really is. Live rock means it is filled with life...life in the form of bacteria, pods, and other critters that you, for the most part, don't see with the naked eye. Do you really care that it isn't covered in coralline? As long as it has some, you are all set...it grows, and grows quickly. Take a deep breath, relax, and try to enjoy the hobby. ;)
