Livesand

Just got 30lbs of livesand from a nice fellow. I put it in my cheato-holding tank. I've been keeping cheato in a 12g with an Aquaclear on it for flow, waiting for my upgrade. What do I need to keep the sand "alive"? I don't have anything producing ammonia in there. Should I stir it? It may not make it into my new tank for a couple of weeks.

just feed it as though there were fish in there.

I'm thinking I should stir it w/a chopstick or something, so it doesn't develop anerobic pockets in there & become a DSB.

Well, that's what a lot of pufferfolks use to stir their sand-dwelling puffer's substrate. Maybe we have a lot of Asian folks at my forum!

you're not going to develop anerobic parts Jeni. Just keep temp and flow and feed lightly and you will be good to go.
