Any suggestions as to what Livestock I could add to my 2.5 gallon. I tried to search, but the search function is not working right now.

Ben

I pulled this list from lgreen's Ultimate Nano Fish Guide from nano-reef but here are his suggestions

"0.5g Pico (Includes Red Sea 0.5g Deco Art) (1 extra small fish)

-Blue Neon Goby
-Catalina Goby [cold water]
-Clown Gobies
-Eviota Gobies
-Panda (Clown) Goby
-Redhead Goby
-Trimma Goby
-Yellow Neon Goby

2.5g Pico (Includes 2.5g Minibow, Eclipse Explorer) (1 fish)

All of the above plus:
-Citron Goby
-Green Banded Goby (added by c'est ma)"

I would never put any fish in a .5g or 2.5g, it just isn't enough room. Imo the minimum size tank for even the smallest of Gobies is a 5 gallon tank. For you 2.5 gallon get some cool inverts. I added a Strawberry Crab to my 2.5 gallon.

.... i have had fish in 2.5g tanks and they did fine.... go for gobies IMHO .... and then there is also Sexy shrimp and small pepermint shrimp.. and Porcelain Crabs

Here ya go Clarkii..

Ben

yellow tang would look nice

What? a 2.5g won't support a tang?
sheesh, upgrade to a NanoCube 12 - that would be lots of room.

nyeh

don't get mad
get glad

12" Current fixture.... i think there is a 18w version and a 36w version.. check em out on Bigalsonline.com ...... they come with moonlights too :)

I have an 18 inch walmart fixture with a 15 watt 50/50 and it lights very well. Everything in my tank so far(hitchhikers) are looking good. It looks like there is some coraline starting to grow a little better on the LR.

Coralife makes a mini aqualight ...18 watts Pc ... It works perfect for a 2.5 ...I've kept mine succesfully for over a year now w/ that light.

As far as stocking it goes ... Fish, you would be good w/ any of the gobies ... I have kept a few different kinds of smaller fish in it for a period of 2-3 weeks and then eventually moved them out to one of our larger systems ... Inverts are a good choice ... And i've used the 2.5 mostly as a grow out tank for injured corals i've come across to nurse em back to health before adding to another system ....

E. & C. T. A friend of mine is going to start her first 2.5 nano. She's already purchased the 18 watt Coralife fixture...a palm h.o.b. filter. Since I have never tackled a tank that small...what type of substate are you using. I've used crushed coral in all of my tanks for years without incidence. I will be getting her some cured rubble rock. What type of frags do you see her being able to keep...and what type of maintenance schedule should she follow.
Thanks in advance for all of yours...or anyone else's input.
