Livestock Options with Damselfish?

I have a small four-striped damselfish currently in my 12G nano, my water is good, but I don't have a skimmer, so I don't want to add much more bio-load on my 12.

Does anyone know of any other compatible fish with the Damsel? I noticed on the chart it says clowns are compatible, but I just can't imagine that actually working out. What other options are there other than snails and hermits? Shrimp? Small fish?

Damsels are an aggressive fish but if you put something in there that is bigger than him he might not attack. But because you have such prime real estate in a 12 gal. you might want to remove that damsel and put what you want in the tank.

I would agree with that. In that small of a space I'd ditch the damsel & you'd probably be okay doing a pair of percs or some small gobies....

I had a 4 stripe many years ago, back in the days when it was standard procedure to cycle new tanks with damsels. 4 stripes grow fast and are very aggressive, even for damsels. I think the 4 stripe will outgrow the tank soon and there is no way it will tolerate another fish, no matter how big the other fish is in a 12 gallon tank.

To confined in a small tank to add another fish with your damsel. Although damsels get a bad rap they are unique fish. Best of luck.
