Livestock order

I'll take the cast away emerald, only if no one wants him... if he's bad, I'll exile him to a 40 gallon breeder in the basement...

I though I only got the Choc Paly's but when I got home here's my stuff after soaking all day.

Special thanks to jon for putting up with all the crap that this order dished out... the waiting and deciding and all... I think everything I got turned out quite well. I am quite satisfied. My jawfish survived, and I will post pics when they are not so timid.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I would and will order from Floridasealife.com again.

Jason

p.s. jon, you know my number if that crab is still sitting there...

My stuff is acclimating right now. The blues opened up in the bag on the way home. they look nice enough.

The gramma is doing his 'laying on the side looking unhappy" thing.

This would be the first actual fish I've ever ordered, I do hope it does alright.

Jason,
What was that number again?
Sorry the crab was snatched up by RCS. I hope everybodies zoos turn out as varied as Jason's. Mine ar looking kind of grey but only actinics are on at this time. As for ordering from this place again, yeah I'm in,,,but,,...
I would like to monitor his site for a while and see if his selection gets a little better. Hope this buy worked for everyone (sorry for your loss kass) and thank you to everyone for the prompt retrieval of your purchases. The one thing I absolutely insist on is that we work at NOT killing anything with these purchases.
Jon

Kiowa, I've had numerous grammas through the years (was in the Navy, so gave everything away just to start over many times), and they all did that.

However, this one today scared the hell out of me. Was no only laying on it's side, it didn't look like it was doing anything. I lost control and had to nudge it. Still didn't move! Since it has been awhile since I needed it, was starting to wonder if my drip bucket had been been used for something nasty without my knowledge and freaked even more.

Also, while I usually QT, everything is getting moved around again with the basement still in work, so had already decided to risk it this time. LOL, sooooo, with what looked like MAJOR stress even for a gramma, I took the risk and moved it to the tank much quicker than I think I have ever done an acclimation. (naughty, but thought for sure something was in that bucket and took the only way out I saw at the moment).

Well, the darn thing hid for a WHOLE 10 minutes, and has now been out looking for his own hole since. I didn't even bother turning the lights out. When I fed, he ate more than either of my angels :)

Looks like 1) He has a new home, and 2) I need my Qt tank set back up so I don't have to stress like this again!

When I got home the tang was laying on the bottom of the bag and didnt look good. If I moved the bag it would get up but then go on the bottom again.
Now I know tangs act funny also when stressed but same as scooter panicked and really thought it was dying. It was breathing heavy and just laying sideways.
I had started acclimating it to the 150 but kept looking at it so small and my other fish so big plus it looked half dead I did'nt know what to do.
I decided to put some water in the bag from my nano as it tests perfect. Then I started thinking. Should I put it in the 150 and take a chance of it getting beat up after its so stressed already?
Or should I put it in the nano where nothing can bother it and hopefully it will recoup.
Well I acclimated it for over an hour pacing the house trying to decide when my hubby finally said (who doesnt know alot about keeping fish lol) why put it in the 150 and risk it. Wouldnt you rather rip the nano apart to catch it later on and have it safe for now?
So I said ok the nano it is. My kid said "mom why would you listen to daddy" lol and I said I dont but just wanted someone to say it's ok.
Soooooo the tiny atlantic blue tang is in the nano (tang police are at my door).
My thinking is if I quarantined it that would be like the same thing or if it was at an LFS would prolly be in a small tank to. It's small (I didnt know they made em that small lol but it did say 2 1/2 inches and thats what it is) so the tank is big enough for now. Plus I figured theres a good chance of it dying anyway the way it looked.
I put it in and for over an hour it hung in the corner and did'nt move. I turned the lights to actinic only and it started to act more normal and swim around after awhile.
Now it has ich kinda bad which I did'nt notice before but it's a tang nuff said. I fed it some garlic soaked brine tonight as it was picking on stuff and it did eat it. I also put some sea lettuce on a clip for it.
I treated the tank with my sano herbal remedy (which I always do when adding a new fish) and we'll see what happens.
Although the sano stuff is for my big tanks at 1 drop per 50 gals so I added it to fresh water and a syringe so dunno if it will work.

The saddled blenny seemed fine all the while and a pretty cute fish.
It reminds me of a cross between a blenny and a hawkfish.
Yes it could get ich but Ive seen many times before where only 1 fish gets it. I havent lost a fish to ich in many yrs and hope my record keeps going but my luck hasnt been to good lately lol.

I like Ken and I'm the one who suggested him but think he coulda put more water in the bags with the fish. It's the first time I ordered fish from him.
My zoa's opened right up. I dont think theyre the same as mine last yr but under PC's this time instead of my T5's so may look different. I was hoping for the same ones I got last yr.

Oh and the sea lettuce I put in a hang on in tank fuge for right now. It has some creepy worms I need to get an ID on right away lol they look like a worm but have tentacles all around the mouth.

I am really sad about Jon and I's jawfish. I don't like killing things either. I hope Jasons make it ok.
I hope the tang makes it to. If it was'nt for the ich it seems to be doing good. If I see my cleaner shrimp in the 55 again lol I'm gonna try to catch it and put it in there to.

Ok sorry for the book here lol and yes thanks very much to Jon for doing this. I did'nt even get lost lol and would order from Ken again.

Kass, you don't want more water in the bags in most cases. At ratio of 2/3 air to 1/3 water is ideal for most cases (especially overnight shipping). But I will agree the bag was likely a bit on the small side, even if it was a tiny tang. They stress easily during shipping. Air contains more, well, air than water does, and with too much water in a shipping bag, you run a good chance of suffocating the fish. Ideally he would use pure O2 in the bag, but I don't know how he ships his stuff. I usually use either breather bags for small fish that can handle it, or a good 6x12" bag that filled with about 2.5" of water and a good 6-8" of air in it.

I think you did alright putting it in your nano for the time being, hopefully it will pull through.

Jon, thanks for putting the order together!

Yeah he does use oxygen.
The tang looks better today as it's acting normal but still has some white spots on it. I know they get so stressed when shipped. Hopefully it will get better.
Sounds like overall things went pretty well for everyone.

Jason those zoa's look great. I'd recommend everyone starting the zoa's on the bottom of the tank as he said they were deep water zoa's.

Oh and I'm glad the little crab found a home. My daughter kept begging for it lol but I had ordered a crab and did'nt really want another 1. I was afraid nobody might want it though.

Smart move with the QT...

If you would have put him in your 150, your whole tank would be ich infested right now....

But try to get him out of the nano as soon as possible... (tang police)

:D

Just wanted everyone to know that the blue zoos are really really awesome!

I took some other polyp rock as a freebie, but when I got home tonight, it was upside down on the sand. I uprighted it, but havent seen what they are yet.

The gramma is out and about and looking great!

My ricordea turned out amazing, but the yellow mouth zoos are just ok. They are still opening, hopefully there are more exciting ones all closed up.
