Lobo Coral

I have a large colony of Lobo coral. One of the larger polyps extends what looks like an clear, quite flexible exoskeleton late in the afternoon after the lighting starts to dim for 'sunset'...what is it?

Are they tentacles? If so, that's how it feeds by catching food particles, other than the "food" it gets from light.

A picture would be good. I know of no corals that extend an exoskeleton and then retract it. Sounds an awful lot like a "puffy" feeding tentacle. If it's white and stringy, those would be mesenterial filaments.
