Lobophyllia polyps sharing food

tonight in my observations of feeding lobophyllia I was surprised to see a mouth regurgitating a large piece of shrimp fed about 6 hours earlier and then proceeding to pass it along to another mouth to eat. I have been testing whether or not food rots in coral stomachs...which is not true according long observations. I fed each mouth a little shrimp and scallop and a large piece of shrimp to the largest mouth; which it ate happily. when it regurgitated it it was smaller then when it went in. has anyone noticed anything like this? I cant find much on the topic and am very interested since the lobo shares tissue; so why share? so many questions. any thoughts?
