Lobster

Is there any reef- safe lobster out there?
If so, how hardy/expensive are they?

I have one that I never see. It hides all the time. It was really cool at the store. Since I got it, 3 weeks ago, I have not had any issue with corals being eaten/nipped.

Beldt's has them for $20.

I bought a purple lobster and started missing fish banished it to the sump and have not lost anymore fish so you will be taking a chance with one they are said to be opertunistic (spelling)feeders.

Is not a spiny lobster, and could only be reef safe if your reef doesnt have fish, shrimp, and crabs....some snails too.

I had the same lobster shown on Melev's site for over 2 years and it never bothered anything in the tank.

I had one for about 6 months, it was very aggressive and ate everything it could touch, except corals.

It was neat to watch and could make a neat display under the right circumstances, but I wont ever place one in a community tank again.

i have one i never see, never had any problems with him, he was in my sump with two fish for about 3 months without a problem
