Loc-Line question

I'm planning a tank and I have a question about Loc-Line; In short, how reliable is it? The reason I ask is because I plan to have a couple of Loc-Line runs going form back to front towards the bottom of the tank. The Loc-Lines (two runs) will be under the sand and will ultimately have rock on top of them. I'd like to hear people's long-term experience with them.

Thanks.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use PVC for the underground runs and attach the loc-line returns to the part that comes out from the sand using an elbow and a female threaded adaptor? I'm sure it would work okay with all loc-line, but it doesn't seem too efficeint (unless you plan lots of twists and turns). Just my thoughts...

I would think it wouldnt be a problem to run the loc line under the sand. However, like Jessezm mentioned, why not just run PVC over to the desired location?

As both posters mentioned, I will change my plans to have PVC run under the sand/rock and then terminate the PVC with Loc-Line. After seeing how pricey that stuff is I'd rather not pay for it and then stick it in the sand.

Thanks for the replies.

Check out savco.com, they have good prices. I got my loc-line from them but you're right, loc-line it's kind of expensive so you're better off using pvc.

I get mine from modularhose.com, they are local for me. Beware that stuff is addictive, started with my fish tank, now all over my wood shop, vaccume lines for all tools.
