Airgas or Nexair can sell you a 5lb bottle and refill it as you need with medical grade co2.

How much does a filled 20lbs bottle cost down there?

A welding supply place in Decatur sells a 20lbs CO2 gas bottle for $70 (filled.) They charge me about $10 to refill it (they deliver it to my work ) They just swap my empty bottle with a filled aluminum bottle. They charge the same for refilling a 20 or a 5 lbs bottle. I guess they charge mainly the handling fee.

I use Airgas in Bessemer. I'm not sure how much the tanks are, but its around $30 to get a 20lb refilled. If you find anything cheaper let me know . What do people use CO2 for in reef aquariums?

CO2 is used for a calcium reactor. $30 for refilling a 20lb cylinder? Wow, that's really expensive!

We use S&S Carbonic, 124 16th St. South 205-323-1626. They filled a 5 or 10# for $5, 20# for $10. The guys that fill the tank like cash. I have heard the they have recently changed hands and prices have increased but have yet to go in myself to see what they are now. I have heard also that they now charge a fee to have a tank filled while you wait.

Tomoko - that is a good price for a filled $20 tank, less than wholesale for the tank alone. Does your employer have a contract with them?
