Check out Fish and other Itchy stuff in Oldsmar, Its on Hillborough (sp?) ave. He has a website with the directions!!! GREAT store

its ok, but i will go to FIOS (fis and other ichy things) and marine warehouse for 99% of my stuff, and never have any problems.
i bought two fish and a couple of corals from coral reef and one fish was sick and one coral did not make it .....if that helps at all.

but as we all know this can happen at any store, but i did get some really good rock from there a while ago

Na not knocking the RC hobby at all, actually I love RC planes and escpecially heli's!!! I couldnt build one nor fly one for my life though!!!

I thought when ya said something about "heres another you men will love" I thought that maybe just maybe there were some chics or something in there, and I let my wife read it and she would have thought the same!!!! Dont take offence to what I agreed upon, didnt mean any disrespect. :D

hawkeye31657 - I apologize as I apparently offended you.
Sorry about that, I was just trying to make a joke about expecting to see girls in bikini's or something. No offense intended.

what do you guys think about coral reef on waters.

I've never - ever - had a good experience there. The store is about 2 miles from my house and yet I drive to FAOIS or Finz instead. I don't like the owner or his attitude. He gives out lectures with information I would consider questionable at best and if you disagree with him on anything then you're a stupid and irresponsible hobbyist*. Even worse the livestock is usually in crappy condition and stupid overpriced. Last time I was in there they wanted $30 for a tiny frag of Xenia. You know...the stuff most ppl can't give away.

Some people swear by the store but my personal experience has led me to stay away.

*He as much as called my husband and I irresponsible hobbyists on our last visit. Anyone who knows me or my tank(s) knows that I am very careful about what I introduce and that I have gone way out of my way to procure tank-raised fish and to select wild-caught fish that I can successfully keep.

Yep, no offence intended...bikinis were expected! lol, rc planes are pretty cool I guess for a guys hobby

I was in the waters ave store 2 days ago, around 1pm, there where so many dead fish in the tanks I actually left a fish store and didnt buy anything! first time for everything...but they where very nice on the upside!

That’s unfortunate that they don't understand or are two lazy to care about the most basics principals of water quality. It’s not hard to keep fish alive. Most reefers will tell you that. This is why many of us moved on to keeping coral alive. What is hard though is nursing the fish that arrive at the store sick, back to health. I was at pet mart , the St.pete location on bay pines the other day and I saw the "hospital" they had set up in the back for the fish that arrive to the store sick. I was very amazed to say the least. I talked to owner, Nick, and he told me that often he will sell a fish for less then what he pays to feed and medicate that fish back to health. This is great and all but what’s sad is Nick said many local fish stores will just "flush" the sick fish when they unpack the order as it comes from the airport. Doesn't sound to good for the hobby in my opinion.

How does he know that? lol... I'm sure If I was him, I'd tell you the same thing :rolleye1:

well what he told me was people that work for him whom make the rounds from pet store to pet store tell him and hes been doing this for over 20 years so and he has perosnally know allot of other store oweners who have come and since gone out of bussiness. What purpose does it serve to tell me people flush sick animals becasue they dont have time and money to spend on makeing these animals healthy. I am already a customer not like hes trying to court me...lol...besides with the wom points i wouldn't go anyware eles unless I had an itch for something hard to find which does happen on ocasion.

I've been making the rounds at Tampa Bay Fish stores for more than 20 years. From my experience Petmart in Tampa is one of the worst offenders with regard to unhealthy livestock and tank conditions. I've also been able to find less expensive livestock at other stores in the Tampa Bay area even after Petmart's WOM program.
