local reefer with cnc

I know a guy who owns a small machine shop with a CNC mill, it's actually a side job for him. He works for reasonable prices. Do you need someone with a mill or a lathe? If you're interested here is a link to his site: http://www.mechtechprecision.com/

Talk to Bryant, tell him that Jake sent you.

Jacob,

I was actually considering building/buying one myself, but wanted to see how common they were in our area first. No reason to spend the time and money if I can find another reef club member that already has a set up :).

If you're serious a good mill is pricey, even the table top mills are in the 10k and up range, I'm talking something that will actually hold decent repeatable tolerances. You might be able to find a router, which is similar to the mill with a little less flexibility for less. I have no idea what a small CNC turning center costs. Full scale equipment will run in the 30k and up range (used).

Good Luck!

p.s. You might want to talk to Bryant just for some leads on a setup if nothing else, he's involved in all things CNC as one of the key roles at Sandia Labratory (his day job). I think he is pretty close to you too (Oakley ~ Brentwood area).

My CNC turning center cost me 120.000, and one of my milling centers cost me 110.000.............this hobby is expensive enough!
Mike.
(thats one hundred and 20 thousand and one hundred and 10 thousand)

Jacob,

Yes, I am aware of the cost. I am hoping to score a used one with decent tolerances for around $10k. I will definitely give Bryant a shout, he is real close to us, according to that web site you provided :)
