Alright ..thanks so much..I can always depend on you. I was confused because some photos were conflicting. It's the turaki I like..it looks similar to purple pillow top. Is there a resemblence in size? Does it stay smooth and narrow like caroliniana?
I've never been big on "speciating" my corals beyond that they're an Acropora, but do you think this is a turaki? I was thinking that or a speciosa...What do you think?
i dont offer species names of my stuff unless i am pretty darn sure... or unless thats what they were called when i bought them/traded for them (and there can be mis-monikers in that as well)
i think anytime someone states a species name there should be a disclaimer somewhere in that post. I am just too lazy to write the disclaimer.
Regardless of the name, it's a cool coral to me, and that's what matters.
Actually, there's a funny story behind this coral...I was on a "buying spree," since I was going to set up a frag tank to sell frags, this was another "investment." I had made many "investments" quie recently, and my wife put an end to any more investments after this coral. (ok, she has loosened the leash every now and again )
The Lokani is definately a much thicker branched bottle brush. I have a Turaki frag that has layed down a 1 inch base in a month so I think it is definately a faster grower than Lokani. Ill put some pics up tonight, I am at work and they locked me out of photobucket .
i have never seen the polyps extend as far as that purple pillow, Waterfaller. not on my frag or the mother colony. it was in the display tank at my work, then in a sales tank and now in mine since at least Oct 05. it was just a little nub then...they grow up so....slow. anyway i have a pic of it in an ID thread so we'll see what the majority vote is
