The most obvious difference when looking at them side by side is that the Lokani is thicker branched.

Great looking pieces guys.

exotica...i agree with Kurt...your looks to be a Lokani.

Ok..ok..stop, now I like them both! :D Great looking corals everyone! Sand dollar that turaki is gorgeous! So tell me one more thing, are there other corals referred to as bottlebrush? JBNY has one in the bottom about the center of his display, that is the same shape but a different color.

Yes, there are many different corals reffered to as bottle brush. It's just a general term referencing the shape like staghorn, table, or finger. Here are some others commenly refered to as bottlebrushes: A. Echinata, Granulosa, Carduus, Loripes, Lovelli, Lutkeni, Lokani, Turaki, and your beloved Tortuosa. :)

thanks stoney, its doubled in the last 2 months and now i have to move the tank, grrrrr. we'll see how it goes. the other side has about 8 little branches on it, i need to up date.
SandDollar, got any of that Lokani you want to send my way, i have to say it puts mine to shame.

Thanks waterfaller...picked up the turaki from fragfarmer a while back.

exotica...your lokani pretty much looks like mine...just a little smaller. give it some time to grow out. It took a while for mine to really start showing it's beauty.

Turakis are really nice. I've noticed mine change different colors depending on the light. It goes from blue to green to purple and everything in between. I also got mine from fragfarmer, I believe it was captive bred.

This pic is probably 6 months old, I have fragged it twice and its probably double the size now.

Yeah my turaki is a somewhat fast grower about the same as my enchinata. The lokani is a SLOW grower i mean REALLY slow.
My torts laugh at it. LOL

Nice DF I need a piece ;)

NP. I was looking at it this morning and it has grown quite a bit. I'll clip a nice frag for you.

Nick (exoticaquatix) that is definitely lokani.

Sand Dollar has to good pictures of the two but if you put them in the same picture you would really see how different they really are. There should really be no confusion between the two once you see them next to each other.

Hi waterfaller1, I'm pretty certain that you have a purple pillow there.

fishnerd,

The one in the pic came from FragGuy...absolutely stunning piece in person. Where did you pic your up at...they look might purple.

Sand Dollar,

I'm ready for another trade if you are interested. I lost some of your frags and would love to get them back. Truly stunning corals you have.

Somehow, by God's grace i've able to keep my collection intact inspite of all the pest i encountered last year and my own laziness in checking the water chemistry regularly. Learned my lesson when things started to STN and now i have a pretty good habitual routine down.

Trade sounds good...PM me.
