I guess humor and amusement are in the eye of the beholder............
Sorry, I wouldnt let any of my dogs near the water while fishing. Its just asking for trouble. How many pictures do you see of fish that were being reeled in that were chomped in half by a shark before they could get it in the boat?
Some people value a good (in their deranged mind) story over the life of their pet. To them, usually the pet is disposable.

Very sad
Did you watch a different video????

Seriously, some of you guys are imagining that people took a rifle to a shark, shot it and forced their dog to do the dirty work and take it to shore.

Hell that would have been more humain IMHO.
Shark is suffering half dead so might has well let the dog chomp on its face and drag it out of its habitat where it can suffer some more. On top of that lets not forget the dangers to the dog they just allowed.

not funny nor fun to watch for me.

Here let me go tell the people that caught the shark and allowed their dog to do this are very evil people...

Sounds good to me.
And mabey while your out someone will beat your a ss to the point of barely living and have there pet drag you across the lawn just for the fun of it.
Mabe it would fix your ignorant outlook you seem to have on another living creatures life.

They are sorry excuses for human beings thats for sure, and I fail to see how anyone could see any merit in this video. For one, they risked their own pet's life for their own deranged amusement. Two, they slowly killed an innocent animal. And three, there is nothing amazing about what they trained that dog to do. There are much more amazing things dogs can be easily trained to do that don't involve torturing a helpless creature.

Seriously, 55semireef, standing up for yourself here is going to be an infutile adventure. Assuming that everyone here (who I would assume care about animals) would find amusement in that is quite hilarious.

people on here need to play devil avocate when starting a new thread. when you put lol on a thread title and you think it's funny to see animals being used like that you should get negitive responces. seth seems to do the same thing sometimes and people get on his a-- for it, and he means something totally different than people read. don't post something on an animal forum and not expect people not to get mad. those people thought that the shark was near death but that is a guess. what if the shark got one last good burst on energy and the dog would of been the victim. to me it's no different than people breeding dogs to fight. it's natural but with human involvment and thats where it goes wrong. it's not natural to see a golden retreiver retrieve a shark from the water i'm sorry. jm2cents

Hey buddy thats not very smart to say at all.

Obviously it is in the dogs nature to bring back its catch to what he thinks was his catch. I find it remarkable that the dog would actually perform this type of behavior. I got hunting with dogs all the time in England to catch foxes and talk about a fun sport. And iam a person thats all about wildlife conservation. We even use ferrets in England to catch rabbits and what not. Its nature to kill things and its always been that way.

I can see you handle your emotions very well.

Seriously, guys either let it go or don't say anything at all. Of course killing the shark to near exhaustion was wrong. If I was on a boat nearby you bet I would have said something. HOWEVER, what the dog did was what I found remarkable. Thats a rare occurence really. What the dog did was instinct...

UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE!!

Maybe you ought to take a look at the TOS for this board.

There's nothing wrong with healthy debate - but this garbage has no place on this board.

Hopefully the mods will pull the plug on this.

I agree...that comment was not necessary at all. In fact I find it more ignorant than this whole thread!!!

Actually come to think of it, i have been on this forum for over a year now and this is one of the nastiest comments i have ever read. This post actually makes me kind of sad come to think of it.

I would imagine they still ate the shark. It looked like a nice size steak. We caught a few and ate ours and we just tossed it on ice. At least that shark was already or near dead.

Can someone enlighten me on how it is cruel though? As far as we know, it still is going to be consumed. Yes if it was tossed away, then yes cruelty.

And I used to love watching faces of death when I was a teenager. It's all fake anyway.

It's cruel. These people are celebrating the fact that they caught the shark let it basically hang in mid-air while it is dying and then had their dog add insult to injury by having it drag it out of the water so it could finish suffocating. I am sure some people are thinking that keeping fish in a small tank is just as cruel but the big difference is you will be hard pressed to find a thread where someone is reveling in the death of a fish that ended up dying in our care. I would never take a dying fish from a tank and use it to play catch with my dog.

The people didn't order the dog to do this, the dog did it based on instinct...

For the record the people did not throw the dog in the water, the dog jumped in by itself.

What's the difference.
