London Aquarium

I took some pictures at the London Aquarium last week and thought y'all might be interested in seeing them. Not all saltwater but clearly those were the displays that attracted my attention the most. Save for the piranha/tetra aquarium! As you'll see below, the piranha tank was spectacular "“ I'd guess it's 16'x12'x5'! Fifteen-plus years ago, I use to have a small school of 4 red bellies in one of the first aquariums I had so it was fun to see such a beautiful display. Also, they had several display tanks filled with anthias "“ mostly lyrtails and bicolors but there were a few more unique species (no ventralis though ☹).

Started out with a huge ray/shark tank that was dimly lit but filled with personable rays "“ this one came right up to me:

Then a really cool jellyfish tank with changing LEDs:

Few random look down tanks, this is one of the only shots that turned out alright:

Then their main display, which was difficult to photograph because of all of the people:

Another random shot "“ this was taken from a "œfish-eye portal" that focused only on this specimen, pretty neat:

They had another pretty good size display filled with RBTAs, tons of clowns, 16+ hippo tangs and this emperor angel (the acrylic was rounded and scratched so pictures weren’t turning out very good):

This was one of my favorite reef displays:

Here was another anthias display. Although not a reef, it was beautiful because it focused the attention on the brilliantly colored anthias:

Some other random pics:

And, finally, my personal favorite display:

These guys were awesome:

Anyway, enjoy! ☺

Did by any chance were you there during piranha feeding time?

Years ago I had a piranha tank. Fascinating fish.

Wow!!

Thanks for posting!

excellent shots! you have a great eye with the camera, thanks!

Awesome pictures!! Thank you for posting. Love those anthia shots!

Thanks guys! Seeing their aquarium along with some of the other major sight was definitely a fun way to spend a Saturday.

No, unfortunately. I'm sure it would have been a very impressive display!

Wow, Great Pics.

Piranhas in a planted display? Usually they tear those up but I guess if it is a big enough tank and they are well fed they will leave it alone.

great pictures!! Is the london Aquarium the aquarium that has one of the last 3 remaining cichlids that is deemed Gorgeously Ugly? If so, I hope that you got to check it out!

So jealous that you got to go there and check it out!

Awesome shots for sure! Thanks for sharing.

!!!

Frick, that was my thought as well but they've certainly managed to make it work. Just another reason why it was so gorgeous.

This statement piqued my interest! For anyone else curious, here is the article.

Haha, I did see that fish but didn't realize the rarity. Obviously it was completely lost on me. No pictures of that guy -- guess I'll have to go back! :)

Thanks for the link!

I read the article too when it came out. Sad story only 3 left in the world supposedly (and in captivity and all males). They even tried to breed one of the males and it killed the only female they had. That super sad! They are looking to the private owners at hopes of finding a female that won't get killed by the males
