Im looking for berghia nudibranches to control some of the aptasia in my tank. Anyone local that has them?

thanks,

Ali

It takes some patience, but get a medium gauge syringe from a pharmacy, a plastic cup, RODI and a tablespoon of kalk. Mix the kalk, heat in microwave to just before boiling.

Then push into the mouth of the aiptasia. It will kill them instantly, not hurt anything in your tank, and won't kill other animals (the nudibranchs die when aiptasia gone, or before). Sometimes (when you miss the mouth) you need to do a repeat on some aiptasia, but normally it kills them first try. For a tiny fraction of the cost.

Just saying...

I had a couple of stray aptasia in my tank some time ago, put in two small peppermint shrimp, they immediately went into hiding.. I haven't seen them since, but just like that the aptasia are gone and haven't returned. I've used peppermint shrimps in the past in my fuge to get rid of aptasia with great success.

A couple peppermint shrimp will takes care of the aiptasia quick n easy.

+1 here for Peppermints....unless the aiptasia is huge...Peppermints typically won't eat those that are much bigger then themselves so those I kalk... ;)

I had the same problem and tried everything listed above except the wand, and nothing ever worked. I finally bought a mated filefish and all my aiptasia are gone after 3 weeks. Only problem is they might nip soft corals but I was all sps anyway.

I have peppermint shrimp... worthless.
Some aptasia are in areas difficult to paste
I dont want to QT any new fish, so still depending on berghias.
I tried vinegar, that just created even more aptasia

Makes sense. I have experience with Berghias. Not an option for you if you have any wrasses. Otherwise, Inland Aquatics or Berghia Breeders are your best options.
