Long Spine Urchin

My long spine urchin had positive aspects and negatives. The positive aspect is that it eats purple coraline algae beautifully! Great! I am sick of looking at a purple (more like dark pink and maroon, actually) dominated tank.

The negative? It doesn't care about rock work. It tips corals over like no body's business. Sooner or later, this bugger will cause a major rockwork colapse and total destruction.

Hope there aren't any bad stories about long spine urchins out there. Thank you all!

the neg u state is true and fact! corals that are not glued with urchins is an isue ..id toss the urchin...thats cause im a coral guy at heart......

My pincushion urchin was hanging 3/4 of the way up the glass with my new Xenia in his mouth, chowing down. He's now in the overflow wating for his new home at the LFS.

yikes, i never knew this! Really. Too bad, this has done a good job getting rid of excessive coraline algae. But it has caused me pain and time away from other things (reworking the aquascape over this bugger took so much of my time).

Definitely sell it back to the store. Thanks!

got rid of mine pushed over 1 to many coral where ever he went he left a trail of dstruction if you ever get another get the smallest you can

Every morning I woke up to corals face down in the sand. I threw him in the refigium 4 months ago. There's more coraline in there anyway.
