Long Stalk Tyree Neon Green Toadstool

Hello,

I have a Tyree Neon Green Toadstool that has a very long stalk and I am hoping to find a way to trim it back. I have read that cutting the stalk just below the cap is a viable way of propagating these corals so I was hoping to do this and attach the cap to some rubble.

Before I do this though I wanted to be sure that it would be ok. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've done this many times without problem. Most of the time the stalk will also grow new polyps and you end up with 2 corals.

Why not just cut a 2" section from the top. Let both heal and when you know your small one is stable then sell/give the tall to LFS or a friend ?

That's just a safer approach, IMO.

Thanks for the help. Just wanted to update that I cut the coral as described and everything worked out great. I left the stalk in the tank to see if it would regrow as well... so far, it hasn't died I guess... but it is also just a stalk still. we'll see what happens.
