i have a bunch of different type of zoas at different spots in my tank some on the gravel some three inches from the surface. they all look very nice have great color an reproduce regularly. The thing is that they all have at least one inch stem and the head grow to a huge size. My RPE are the size of a quarter with a 1 1/2 inch stem, and these are close to the light.

Light: 2- 150 MH pheonix 14K
2- 96 watt PC actinic

My params are all correct my alk might be a little high but nothing to right home about.

I have many other coral my SPS all have huge polyp extention
my micromussia all look very nice and so does the zoa it justthe stalks

If anyone has any theories or ideas to stop this please let me know. I will answer any questions about my tank.

thanks guys

nothings wrong with long stems just curious about it

and the flow is fine its not strong but i have 15x turnover

i recently found that i had two frags of the same coral... one just below the light, one at the bottom of a 22 inch tall tank... both reached...i increased flow on the bottom ones, and they shortened up... the top ones did not shorten to "normal" until i increased flow around them...

INCREASE FLOW, then tell me what happens in a week please.. and by increasing i mean place a current to go right next to them, if not through them.
