i came home today and noticed that my LTA had shrunken a considerable amount

what could be the cause of this?

my clown still bounces around in it tho

could just have been aggitated. My LTA is about 9" in diameter and pulls down into the sand so that you can barely see him if I irritate him.

hes already spread back out

i fed him tonight
i need to get him some silversides or sand eels

hes right up in the corner of my tank
i cant clean the allgae growth in teh corner cause hes there hehe

That's an extremely unusualy place for an LTA to be. They almost never like having their feet out of the sand.

I have 2 LTAs that are almost always attached to live rock. Mine shrink up usually at night when the tank lights are off then as soon as I turn them back on they grow again. Anemones are filter feeders also, they will fold in on themselves to 'eat' so to speak. They will shrink also when they are expelling waste. They will move around alot when they arent happy with the flow. Anemones LOVE lots of flow. But him attaching to a corner or even on the glass would not seem unusual considering flow will get a swirl affect in the corner of any tank if you use a power head.

yea i have excellent flow in my tank

i have a sea horse in there as well who will soon be taken out into a smaller tank with others of his kind
but the seahorse gets tossed around when he swims aroun dmost of the time so he usually just chills out and latches onto something with his tail

hes in the sand
just right in the very left corner of my tank

Ah... I mis-read "he's right up in the corner" to mean that he was up near the top. Sorry. Corners are not that unusual for LTA, they like to attach to more than one piece of substrate.

This is my second LTA. My first folded up and died very quickly after about four years and I never really figured out why. Both that one and my current one love the sand bed and didnt move much at all. Here is my current one after a week in the tank.

Here it is again a month later, colored up and hosting my true percs.

Okay came home today and can't find my coral beauty, I opened the door of my cabinet and shined a light under my LTA and behold he has purple coloring that I can see in him, he hosts a clown fish that probably can;t be seperated from him, either way anyone want a 10 inch wide when open LTA, he has costed me over 800.00 worht of fish since I have had him, this is a new 125 tank and he had his one last chance, let me know if someone has percs only looking to buy one in CT area Before Saturday otherwise he is going to the LFS make and offer and pick him up
