long white hair like things in my tank

I have long thin hair like things in my tank. They are not everywhere, but some are on the live rock and some look like they are coming from the sand (but it is close to the rock so who knows). Sometimes I can see it and sometimes I can't so I don't know if something is eating it or if it is retracting...anyone see anything like this before? It is way to small to be able to take a picture of it , at least with my camera, so I'm not sure what to do. All of my water parameters are good and my temp. and salinity have no great fluctuations. Well, any help is appreciated.
