Shoal of five going on four years now....there's got to be somebody who's had them longer out there. These look as great as day one, and my anthias routinely mix in with them. Super dither fish, and extremely well behaved.
I started out with a group of 8 in my DT 4 years ago. Now there are only 5 left. I love these little fish in my under-stocked mixed reef tank. I am adding 3 more that just cleared the QT. Hope they mix well with the old group. I found they do best with a lot of small feedings during the day.
I was long of the opinion that it was not possible to keep a group of green chromis for more than a few months as they'd pick each other off. However, in my anthias tank I've had a pair now for over 3 years with no signs of either suffering (though they do fight a lot). My opinion as to the 'secret': frequent feedings (as a direct consequence of being housed with the aforementioned anthias).
I had 5 in my 93 cube. I think they lasted about 6 months @ 1 per month
Not sure if it was the lack of swimming space or feeding once per day. What are you guys feeding?

I feed Hatchery Diet by Sustainable Aquatics .5mm slow sinking pellets. I agree that chromis needs to be fed more often than most fish. One or two feeding per day is not going to keep them happy.
I started with 10, 4 years ago. Lost 5 after about 12 months due to disease outbreak which affected all fish (not just the chromis). Lost another one about a year later. The remaining 4 are now approaching 4 years in tank.
Lots of hiding places in rockwork to avoid competition for sleeping places is a big help i think.
I started off with 5 or 6 in my current tank. Over the eight years I've had them they slowly dwindled down to the one I have now. He's massive for a chromis, I'd guess somewhere around the 3" mark (guessing).
