Hey guy's I am just getting ready to start pieceing together my 120 gallon tank. The thing is that I paid a good bit of money for a tank stand and canopy. As I was disasembling the plumbing I cracked one of the overflows which are glass. So to fix my problem I had made up some acrylic panels to replace the glass ones. Now as I am checking to make sure they will fit I notice that to get the glass overflows out Iwill need to cut them out of the silicone. So the question is does anyone know someone that will reseal a tank and if so how much might it cost.I am on a budget as we all are. There is also a small chip on one of the edges of the glass of the tank itself do you think that will cause a problem I will try and get a pick and post it shortly. Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes, Brad is correct. Acrylic absorbs water to some degree. I would just use silicone on the crack of your current overflow and not mess with resealing a tank that is perfect otherwise. Messing with seals is asking for trouble in some cases. Just cover both the inside and outside of the overflow that has the crack. One inch on either side of the crack and about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick and it should be fine.

It wont be pretty but it will work. Also it will get covered in time anyway and you wont notice it.

What is the best type of silicone to use for this application do i need to sandwhich the crack with pieces of glass if so maybe i will sell it. I think it will always look ugly to me.

most pet stores have aquarium silicone made by all glass. i know petco, something fishy and that fish place all sell it it's like $8-$12 a tube
