Hey folks. I was in House of Fins yesterday and got a BIG surprise at the checkout counter. Or maybe I should say I was GREATLY surprised by a very LITTLE thing. It was so awesome, I had to take videos to share.

I posted a couple of video links over in the Cephalopod forum. Here's the link: Flamboyant Cuttlefish at House of Fins. Check it out! :)

Reef safe? As I understand it, yes - with large cautions. As in... it will eat all your crustaceans. It will eat all small fish. And if any bigger fish threatens it - it will "ink", and BADLY foul your water.

And it requires the same conditions as you would give SPS EXECPT that it prefers water around 72 degrees, I think.

And finally, they are hard to train to frozen food, so live food feedings are needed a couple of times a day. And not just the same things all the time. Variety is required.

So reef safe? In a limited way. Hard to keep? Absolutely.

Oh yeah... it will stay in the tank though. :)

very cool, we actually had one in at Westport Aquarium not too long ago, it was pretty amazing to watch. But, the octopus we had was actually a little cooler in terms of being active. I would totally attempt some cuttles if they lived longer.
